Harley-Davidson has launched the dazzling Fat Boy Gray Ghost, a limited-production masterpiece that marks the 35th anniversary of the iconic Fat Boy motorcycle. As the fifth model in the Icons Motorcycle Collection, the Gray Ghost brings a modern interpretation to the legendary design with a show-stopping chrome-like Reflection finish and a host of performance upgrades.
Since its debut in 1990, the Fat Boy has captured hearts with its bold, unmistakable presence. Inspired by post-war Harley-Davidson DNA and updated with contemporary design, the original Fat Boy revolutionized cruiser aesthetics. The Gray Ghost honors this legacy by drawing from the silhouette and proportions of the 1949 Hydra-Glide, blending nostalgia with high-tech innovation.
Only 1,990 units of the Gray Ghost will be produced globally, a nod to the original release year. Priced at $25,399 (U.S. MSRP), this limited-edition bike is a collector’s dream.
What sets the Gray Ghost apart is its spectacular Reflection finish—created through a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process typically reserved for smaller parts. For the first time, this technique has been applied to major components like the tank and fenders, offering a mirror-like, corrosion-resistant surface that outshines traditional chrome.

The Gray Ghost doesn’t just look good—it’s also loaded with top-tier tech:
The original Fat Boy was a defiant statement in a market dominated by sport bikes. Designed by Willie G. Davidson and Louie Netz, its defining solid-disc wheels, silver paint scheme, and yellow highlights gave it an unforgettable identity.
Interestingly, the “Fat Boy” name wasn’t born from myths—it was marketing brilliance. Davidson noted that the massive, ‘fat’ look of the bike inspired a name that was both irreverent and fitting.
